High Country baseball coaching for every kid who loves the game.
Hustle. Respect. Growth. Fun.
I grew up loving the game. I played it at the college level as a shortstop at Wingate University, and I've never stopped believing that baseball teaches kids something you can't learn in a classroom — how to fail, reset, and come back stronger.
I've lived in Boone since 2008. I teach Public Speaking at Appalachian State University. I'm a REALTOR® with Boone Realty, helping people put down roots in the High Country. And this season, I'm coaching a little league team of 11 and 12 year olds who remind me every single practice why the game matters.
Boone Baseball Academy exists for every kid in the High Country who loves the game — regardless of skill level, background, or experience. My job is simple: help your player get better, build their confidence, and fall deeper in love with baseball.
Get Started TodayFor the game, for your teammates, and for yourself — every practice, every at-bat, every groundball. No half-speed. No shortcuts. You bring it every time.
For the game's traditions, for the umpires who officiate it, for the coaches who invest in it, for the opponents across the diamond, and for yourself. Respect isn't optional — it's the foundation.
Every player is a work in progress — and that's exactly the point. We don't measure success by wins and losses. We measure it by whether you're better today than you were yesterday. Improvement is the goal. Development never stops.
This is why we play. Hustle, Respect, and Growth matter deeply — but none of it means anything if the kids aren't having fun. Baseball is supposed to be a blast. We never forget that.

Get Notified →Coach English played college baseball at Wingate University and has spent decades studying and teaching the game. This isn't a side project — it's a calling.
Coach English has lived, worked, taught, and served in the High Country since 2008. He's not passing through. He's your neighbor — and he's invested in this place.
No tryouts. No cuts. No atmosphere that makes your kid feel like they don't belong. If your player loves baseball, there is a place for them here.
Clinics are kept intentionally small so every player gets genuine attention — not just a spot in a crowd watching someone else hit off a tee.
Boone Baseball Academy offers both outdoor and indoor training options year-round — so development never stops, rain or shine.
As an Appalachian State University adjunct professor of Public Speaking, Coach English knows how to communicate clearly, patiently, and effectively with players of every age and level.
Boone Baseball Academy covers every aspect of the game — across all four seasons, for all three age groups.
Every month offers age-specific clinics covering hitting, pitching, defense, speed, athleticism, and the mental side of the game. Over the course of a full year, every BBA member will have the opportunity to touch every category and every subcategory. No kid leaves the year without being able to experience the complete game.
Each season has its own identity and focus. The full detailed session calendar is available exclusively to BBA members.

Jason English is a college-trained shortstop, an Appalachian State University adjunct professor of Public Speaking, and a REALTOR® with Boone Realty — but most mornings, he's just a guy who loves baseball and loves helping kids get better at it.
Coach English was the shortstop at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina — home of the Bulldogs, one of the premier NCAA Division II programs in the country. He graduated in 1999, having competed in one of the most storied programs in Division II baseball. The Bulldogs have long been a powerhouse in the SAC, winning multiple conference titles and making regular NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2021, Wingate baseball reached the pinnacle of the sport — capturing the NCAA Division II National Championship.

We never forget that.
